Having a bit of bother with a neighbouring farmer, I’m having to put a small mob of 20 ewes in a grass paddock for a few days. They’re probably in about a quarter of an acre, with plenty silage and water, plus a sheltered (and straw bedded!) 24’ x 20’ shelter for them. He says it’s not enough and I could get in bother with the SPCA. But it’s only for a few days (less than 4), and they’re getting a lot more area than they would be if I had put them in a barn. I get it’s a bit churned up, but no more so that they’d be on forage kale!
I don’t want to make enemies however, and always happy to take advise off an old hand. However I don’t think I’m really in the wrong
