The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) will host demonstrations of sheep post-mortems next month with the aim of providing attendees with insights into the internal effects of parasite damage.

The beef and lamb branch of AHDB will host the event in collaboration with Mole Country Stores and Towcester Farm Vets on Wednesday, May 17, at Mole Country Stores, Brackley Road, Buckingham (MK18 1JD).

The demonstrations will be carried out by Ben Strugnell of Farm Post Mortems Ltd. and the event will cover the impacts of parasites on sheep and why post-mortems are beneficial in measuring them.

The topics set to be covered include:

  • Why and how post-mortems take place and their benefits;
  • What organs look like and the common causes of death in lambs;
  • Effective parasite control. The right product, the right time, administered effectively, AHDB said.

AHDB said the event will also be attended by Elanco to discuss anthelmintic resistance and faecal egg counts, as well as Agrimin, which will cover topics relates to minerals and blousing.

The event will run from 6:00p.m to 9:00p.m on the day and attendees are warned that deadstock will be present at the meeting.

Registering for the event can be done by contacting Mole Country Stores and attendees must be over 16 years of age.

A barbeque supper will be provided.
