Building a sheep /Pheasant snacker. now I’m stuck how does the electric mechanism work

I'll try to remember and take photos next time I'm near it, basically a wiper motor with a short arm on it which pushes open a spring trap door. Spring closes it. There is another slide above it which is adjusted with thumb screws to adjust the trap door size

why not use the mechanical rotating bucket ?

We feed multiple batches with 1 hopper full so the electric works well

I thought the better ones used a spring loaded shutter pulled open for a set period.

One we have is as above using a half pipe rotating with a lever and length of rope and leaving a kg (I think).

It's red, marketed as an Ewe feeder and Arfon Roberts must of sold thousands of them by now!!! We've actually had to re line ours as it had worn so thin it started collapsing!!!

Wiper motor Opens and closes Fast or slow but it’s continuous. needs the intermittent setting. is that a separate relay. ?

Something like this? Could be combined with the park contacts on the wiper motor between energise cycles from the timer unit to make sure it doesn’t pause open.

Most of them are done with a capacitor circuit or ECU now adays but it is possible to buy intermittent wiper relays with fixed times, have a quick google on them.

Y feed in piles and not in a trail . Set it at what ever say .5kg a second .. 60 sheep. 60 sec set count down timer (Easy) drive fast or slow depending how spread out you want them. (Trail snacker)

Theory is that there’s less waste in little piles than a line. Sheep tend to walk along the lines treading on nuts.

Have you thought about slider bars in front of the wheels? Idea is to slide the sheep away from in front of the wheels as you drive along.

Check out the parts list drawing for the motor and slide motor assembly....
Motor is mounted via two slots allowing to move backwards and forwards to alter the size of the drop.

Yep that system Looks Good ,is good. I’ve turned the motor side ways And will be able to fit either manual or electric to the same machine. Just waiting for more stuff . rear tow hitch next job

I would make mud guards removable there a classic for hitting gate posts. I actually had to take mine off completely so it would fit under feed bin between pillars.

Funny enough I’m going the other way and dismantling an old snacker
