Shredding Arb waste

been chewing this over for some time now. we get arb logs tipped FOC which I split with a cone splitter, trim down to size and store both inside and out until they are dry enough to burn, they go in whole and it works quite well.

However, the logs are bulky and given they are fairly un processed it can be hard to get a decent bucket full in one go. they can also tale some time to dry, shredding them will increase surface are so I assume / hope drying time as well.

I am thus considering getting in a shredder (not chipper) to shred the lot so I can load them easier, potentially get more volume / weight in and generally go for a more slick operation. chipping is not an option as I cant get the air thought it as well, nor can I guarantee no metal in the logs.

there are a few shredders about, I will have about 150 - 200 tons to shred in one go so not much by there standards, once or twice per annum.

what is the largest shred size I can get and how much is it likely to cost per ton?

The firm near me process thousands of tons of green waste ,pallets scrap timber and plasterboard ,,they have Doppstadt shredders ,,metal doesnt stop them

thanks, had a number of quotes. There are several about that will take less than a day to give me 300mm x 200 mm sized shred.

haulage is more than use of the machine but such is life!

Doppstadtt high speed shredder is no good on logs
You need a fixed hammer not a swinging hammer unless you process through a slow speed shredder first

running two batch boilers, side door loading.

yeah going to cost me around £13/ton at the moment but I think I can reduce this some more
Where about in the country are you transport is going to be a huge cost probably
Anyone local with a slow speed single or twin shaft shredder
The high speed will create to much dust and fines even with a big gate in them

One of their UniShear Shredders would have that done before lunch...
