Sidebar and colour change

I've posted on here some months ago about not being able to see the sidebar on the farming forum. By that I mean the thin bar on the RHS which shows how far down a page you are. I'm on an ipad using safari. I can see this sidebar on my ipad on every other website I've ever benn on but not this one. Admin couldn't help me, I can't remember what the specific answer was. There used to be a sidebar visible on the old forum before all the changes all those months ago, and that's when I asked about it. I think the first new version had the sidebar but the main body of text was so very narrow that I altered a setting which basically clipped off a small portion each side of the visible page. Hence the sidebar disappeared, which was no biggy at the time as the rest of the page had major problems which everyone reported and were fixed thankfully. I assumed it would be reinstated eventually. Nope.

Anyway, I've really missed the sidebar but I noticed that when we had the green font it returned!!!!! It wasn't permanently visible but it appeared as you were scrolling down a page and then vanished again, which is better than nothing. Now it's gone again this morning. Aaaaaaaarrrggghhhh.

it goes blue again and we get complaints !

..... ever felt like you can do nothing right ? ??

as far as i know nothing other than the colour was changed for the 2 days of the show but we will take a look double check on the side bar

I'm glad you've spotted the issue now, I know there were a huge number of issues when I first reported it, and this particular one was low priority compared to many others. Fingers crossed you can sort it.

can you do a screenshot from there and then a screenshot from this thread (which uses the standard skin) for comparison please?

As CLive says, we should be able to fix but haven;t been able to replicate before.

Getting a screenshot on my ipad was quite tricky as I've never done it before (always done on my phone before this). The sidebar is only there briefly so timing was difficult. Got it eventually though.

And...... today the sidebar's disappeared again. Except when I scroll to the top of the screen where I can just about make out a white sidebar against the blue background at the top of the screen. So it seems that it boils down to white on white that's the problem.

That would be when we had the Cereals Skin enabled. If you go to this section - is the sidebar there:

I have to say I can't quite work out the problem myself, but there can easily be a difference between the main skin and the Cereals/Grassland Skins.

And...... today the sidebar's disappeared again. Except when I scroll to the top of the screen where I can just about make out a white sidebar against the blue background at the top of the screen. So it seems that it boils down to white on white that's the problem.

Hi Chris, it's as I seem to have worked out above. Generally the sidebar seems to be white but you can't actually see it, because the background is white, unless you go right to the top of a page where the background is blue. In the Virtual Cereals section the sidebar is grey so is visible at all times.

I'm guessing that if you could change its colour to grey or black permanently then it would be problem solved?

This is on an ipad, I haven't looked on a pc.

See what you mean never noticed it before but if you scroll this page back to the top on an iPad you can see the sidebar moving against the blue banner, not sure it’s much of a problem though.

Yes, I mean it's not the end of the world or owt, but it's something I miss when it's not there. I use it all the time and this is the only website I use where it's missing.

I've discovered by accident that if you zoom in a bit on a page and then move the page over to the left then you can see the sidebar. As soon as you let go it snaps back and disappears again. So basically it is actually there but is hidden for some reason. Maybe that might help the techies?

Yes and no. We haven't fixed it in the main skin - but I think it is different here:

What we aren't 100% sure is exactly where the code differs and why. It should be consistent.
