Silage cutting yet?

For most of us with little grass growth silage cutting will be a long way off.
But I'm sure some will be going soon.
Anyone started?

I have some land resembling swamp but some land is dry enough. No grass though! Havn't even started fertilising yet.

A positive embarrassment of grass on a couple of new seed leys and some of the fields when I got some early N on, the embarrassment is that the land is only just about able to take the Kioti, and Gawd knows when I can get the Suckler Coos out onto the land... And No, it is not some light boys land either!!!

Bugger all fodder left and wondering about zero grazing with the round baler on some big tyres!! Just hope the storms forecast for Sunday stay away...

From reading on here about all the poor bloody Shepherds struggling with the weather, I do feel slightly guilty! However, I went early with the N this time after coming unstuck last year when the drought hit as post hay aftermaths fizzled totally...

A few dairy farmers are just putting fert on around here today on ground that has had 2/3x lots of slurry over the winter, grass is nearly a foot tall in some of these fields, they would be better off cutting it and starting again imo.

Some of these farms will cut end of March/ early April in a normal winter.

Thou don't feel to bad as if you have a lot of sheep it = no/ very little grass down here as well

Ground is drying very quickly, plenty out spreading slurry or ploughing/ drilling today.

Second application of N went on cutting ground yesterday, probably looking at the end if May at the earliest.

Milder here over the past few days, but this day a week ago we didn't get above 3 degrees and a harsh wind chill making it feel more like zero.

Starting drilling Spring barley in the morning now that drier land can be travelled on without doing damage.

Anyone cutting silage just now or any time in the next week or two, in a year like this has a fantastic climate.

Yeah,sheep take first cut and they always have their blades set too low,will be mid july till next cuts ready!

Grass in places now but it would be pants quality if pitted now surely, its had one day if sun total?!

One customer has cows out by night at the moment but thats on brash.
