Is it dear this time?Started my one lot of cows on fodder beet yesterday. They hadn't forgotten what it was !!
including delivery ?A one off load was £26 tonne .

Same old story seems ridiculous to tip it in a hole and let it rot!I don't think the money will drop too much as the digester boys will swallow it up
It’s not just that for me. I can spend half an hour spreading 20/30 tonnes of beet through muckspreader and that’s 5/600 ewes fed for 2/3 weeks. If I was to feed barley daily that would add a lot of man hoursView attachment 840383
with barley hovering just over £100/t I think that is where it needs to be.
But you like bagging feed ?It’s not just that for me. I can spend half an hour spreading 20/30 tonnes of beet through muckspreader and that’s 5/600 ewes fed for 2/3 weeks. If I was to feed barley daily that would add a lot of man hours
My fire shovel is worn out!But you like bagging feed ?
agreed though, I’ve paid over the feed value for it for that reason.
I use a 1600 West. It smashes them up maybe a bit much but there’s nowt wasted and it’s a good wide spread? my mates think I’m mad but it’s quite logical in my world. I just feed it whole where I can get it tipped near the field or where I can’t get into without making a rive up. Rear discharge makes a good job too. Only thing is to set spreader away before opening door too much otherwise it will gag up. Same as spreading anything else. What sort of muck spreader do you spread them with...interesting..thinking of doing the same myself
I think most muck spreaders would spread it. I’ve heard of folk using barrel spreaders evenWhat sort of muck spreader do you spread them with...interesting..thinking of doing the same myself
