Silage / Straw / Hay Price Tracker

I'd keep it if you can. I have a feeling in my waters it will be needed this year. We might not be able to get hold of wrap or fuel in three months so a pile of bales already made might be a god send in these turbulent times. I am in no rush whatsoever to sell my surplus esecially my hay that will keep. Don't want to scare monger but hanging onto it might just be wise.
I’d agree with that. I’ve suddenly got three customers all paying £20 for 4 string square bales of good quality silage.
All sold now.

Anyone got a rough price for pit silage? I’m doing a year end stock valuation, probably 120 tons left, decent stuff bit on the dry side.
Tbh I can’t remember. Auctioneer does stocktake but didn’t itemise things last year. I just wanted a rough figure to suggest to him. I think it was around £12 last time.

Won’t make any material difference to your tax bill anyway, so value it as you like - somewhere between 1 and 200tonnes, and £10-£50 a tonne.

shouldn't need to buy anymore bales of silage, cutting today, baling Monday ! But, in this ne wind, our exposed bits of grass are shrinking, son never believed I was right, in saying march winds could soon burn it off ! And I have never cut for silage in march, and a fair cut.
