Single Market / Customs Union - A Tragic Loss

What makes me laugh is some folks genuinely bought in to the burning of the red tape cr@p as a benefit to Brexit. Nothing could be further from the truth right now

Farming Today was so depressing listening to the Dartmouth Crab guy who mugged up on his paperwork expectations but still ended up having to make hard copies and chasing down the road in the car to catch up with the wagon as when they're landed they need to move straight away

Coming the other way ; I've spent the past week helping a Dutch haulier friend who's Type 2 vehicle and driver over 8 hour accreditation is no longer valid bringing in breeding heifers for TB blighted dairy farmers. UK Gov could choose to recognise what was OK on December 31st but no they insist Hans brings empty trucks to the UK to be "assessed" and 6 drivers have to come to the UK to be tested - and yes it has to all be in English.

So what worked as one Phyto-Sanitary agreement now means we re-invent the wheel and basically copy it all (a Country of 65m folks with a UK Civil Service all with pension entitlements etc etc )

It's just a joke

And the DEFRA consultation on livestock transport is still running and I am told from a very reliable source that the new regulations will be implemented by the end of the year

Yep, if you read many of the threads you might note I have commented how well the uk is doing with the vaccination. And I even mentioned how pleased I was that my mum has received her’s (on the second appointment)
Europe is pretty underwhelming (so far) on vaccination.
Do you think smug is a good look? Especially when it regards the health of elderly folk
the only good thing about covid, is the vaccine, without that, millions would die, and i suspect many millions in the poorer countries will anyway. I am thankful that i will get the jab, before many millions, fully agree it's selfish, but self preservation is a powerful thing.

What I am saying is don't knock people trying to fight for their survival, you never know you may be next. The trucks were from many producers in England as well as Scotland who have basically been fu&ked by this lying and incompetent government. Bozza just told them it's their fault for not filling the paperwork out correctly is not helpful and then fining them for breaking Covid rules just for good measure! :banghead:
EU announced today, 'things are not running as smoothly as they should', and are relaxing some restriction to ease the congestion. And several 'parts' are not working as planned, so need 'sorting', euro news,

what we have to do now, is stop trying to score petty points over each other, and i am guilty of that, for the UK, the advantages, or disadvantages, are over, we have left, for better or worse, we have to look forward, whether it was right or not, we will know in a few years. For us, we live in a democracy, and we have to live with that. Those that our still inside, will go in one direction, we will go in another. It is up to us to make it work, we have to look forwards not backwards.
