Slaughter codes for halal

Thank you for calling it non stun - this suggestion that all Halal is cruel is inappropriate, and insults a massive proportion of our customers.

As for those who don't know the difference between recoverable and recovered.....
Stunning had nothing to do with Animal Welfare in the first instance as you will know. It was created to protect abattoir workers and speed up abattoir production lines. Animal Welfare became a selling point and was exploited as such to make consumers believe stunning was in the animals interest.
But what does Insensible to pain actually mean? Insensible as referred to by the meat industry is actually the point when the Animals Heart Stops Beating so when it actually dies it will no longer be able to feel pain...That is what it means but it is being sold as Pain Relief for Animals!!

I even have a recording of a conversation between myself and a farmer with abattoir saying exactly that. He was told if he conducted or claimed Religious Slaughter the authorities would be able to overlook certain preventative Red Tape issues that he would have to comply with if not. Thankfully he chose not to go down the RS route but he was tempted!!
This appears to be the message being promulgated to other businesses too.
This is the recording;

If segregation is not maintained for Halal / Kosher they simply pass that same meat off to the main stream meat supply chain as non-Halal/non-Kosher to persons not of Jewish/Muslim faith and they do this without labelling or informing those consumers. That has got to change hence why people want the right of choice on this matter as much as Muslims/Jews have to be able to have their meats labelled Halal/Kosher. What is wrong with that?

We need the public on our side if we are to stop non stun, but farmers need to do their bit aswell.just look at the backlash on villiers fb page over her comments

If Joe public knew the truth they would boycott British farmers, let's be honest.

In lamb sheep are transported from Ireland to northern marts on a Wednesday, they then spend all day standing at the Mart Thursday. They are then loaded onto wagons and transported a further 300 miles down south to abattoirs. They then spend all the weekend in lairages before being killed Monday.

The anti kosher/halal brigade and the BVA seem to ignore this, but concentrate on the last 5 seconds of the animals life, so that the competion which the halal buyers provide in the live marts can be eradicated. This is nothing short of religious discrimination how the Jewish/Muslim communities have not started legal proceedings, I will never know.

What a crock of Apologist crap... This is a clear example of what UK Consumers are facing... If you complain you are a Racist, Bigot, Xenophobe etc...

You are ignoring factual information and are incorrectly quantifying harm based on religious grounds, rather than the amount of time that actual suffering takes place.

An animal suffers for 5 hours whilst being transported to the abattoir. Whereas in comparison it suffers for 5 seconds more if it is not pre stunned.

The additional benefits of non pre stun is that the animal does not suffer the pain from the spikes of the stunning tongs griping its skull and eye area, for 5 seconds prior to sticking.

May I kindly suggest that you invest your energies into promoting local abattoirs, which would reduce transport journeys and would be far more beneficial country wide.

I am not looking for an argument as you have no idea about farming practices or slaughter methods and are simply seeking attention.

The additional benefits of non pre stun is that the animal does not suffer the pain from the spikes of the stunning tongs griping its skull and eye area, for 5 seconds prior to sticking - So you welcome and accept Non-Stun Slaughter Methods as a less cruel method of Slaughter and accept that a LIVE and Fully CONSCIOUS Animal which has it's Throat Cut Open to feel all the pain is also OK to Choke on it's Own Blood spurting from it's Severed Arteries as it fights for it's last Breath because it has to remain alive for Religious Slaughter - Amazing and very hypocritical!!

Friends in high places: Apparently Boris's current girl friend is an enthusiastic campaigner for better animal welfare...........
