Slurry crusting

We have been using slurry treatment for a number of years with very good results but this winter it seems to have failed. We have a crust and are stirring for the first time in a few years. Product provider said the cold weather could have knocked out the bugs. Wondered if anyone else had similar problems?

I know what you mean. We haven't changed anything apart from the product used is different for the last two years. No difference noticed last year. Just asking if anyone has had a similar experience.

Our slurries not thick enough to crust as most of solids diverted. Is there any benefit to add bugs or not worth it? Waiting for analysis back from labs. Thanks

We find it reduces smell and usually keeps it homogeneous. They tell us there is more nutrient available but can't comment on that. I am a bit slow at this. Typing isn't my strongest point.

I found the same. If anyone knows of one that actually works let me know.
we used epyzime (now slurry king I think) for several years. put it in the lagoon in november each year and by third year no crust and no stirring and very consistant slurry. changed to slurry bugs 2 novembers ago. last year still OK but have a thin crust this spring. have just stirred it in and will see what happens. change uf brand was due to a friend supplying slurry bugs FYI.

I’m needing to try some slurry bugs for various slatted sheds as they all get pumped up into towers and it can take a lot of mixing + adding water to get it consistent enough to pump. It’s mostly young stock slurry.
Who sells slurry king in south west Scotland?

Mine works! Hopefully some forum users will confirm. :)
I used yours for the first time, this past winter having used a different make for previous 3 + years and......
I could not really see any difference between these two products.
In both cases a crust had formed but mixing for 1-2 hours broke it up.
Previously without bugs would have taken much longer to mix.
I did try a different make perhaps 6 years ago which didn't seem to work for me.

I think they sell direct and parcel it to you.

We used some couple of years ago, took a while for them to get going but then worked well, no crust and could see bubbles rising. Then suddenly all stopped working and died off. As above we were told cold weather effects them so needed to put more in. We didn't because we spoke to someone else and they said formalin from the footbath can kill the bugs, still not sure if that's true but we never bought anymore as were always footbathing and didn't want to waste money on bugs.
