I have never had either of the above done for farm saved seed. Can they do this sort of thing on-farm with modern kit? Do they really come out for say 1/3 of a ton of OSR or a couple of ton of linseed?

I'm 1/2 hour away from CYO nr Didcot, they came and picked up a big bag of OSR I filled from a grain trailer shoot and then delivered it back in 25kg bags about 2hrs later.

Simple and cheap enough, will carry on with this next year.

We will be farm saving around 800ac of rapeseed next year, and a couple of tons of linseed for which I cant see the magic in turning £330/t of grain into close to £2k a ton of seed by adding ten litres of Thiraflow. Hence the thought. I will ask about sending in an ag-bag or two of OSR.

When Anglia Grain came and did my spring bean seed for this year they said they would come out and clean any OSR seed I wanted done in the summer even just 70 acres worth. They might not be quite so busy then so happy to do smaller jobs.

We made a simple cleaner for OSR with a some plywood and a vacuum cleaner - got the idea from a thread on here, worked a treat , same design as this but scaled up to 8x4ft
cost beer money, our entire OSR area this year is seed cleaned like this

Do you screen it for bigger bits of pod etc first and use this to take out the smalls?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
