What is a good free app for a smartphone to give speed and guidance. May have to do a bit of pre em spraying with the quad and want an app for an android phone so i can bolt it to the handle bars to keep my speed right and keep me on the straight and narrow.

IIRC, the gps chip in a typical smart phone is accurate to about 4m. Great for TomTom or Google Maps, but not so good for precision ag.
You could source a basic used egnos receiver like a Trimble EZguide 500, which works well with a quad.

Ok that answers that then, have X30's in two tractors and was just wanting something simple for a one time job on the quad.

A few years ago I downloaded a free "Fieldbee" app for simple guidance, it worked great. Iirc, you had to pay only if you wanted record keeping and other extras. It may have been a bit data hungry also, but it was perfect for opening out lands etc. There are probably loads of similar apps now out there.
