Smoking Policy

I wouldn't want to either drink or smoke that kind of money, but my point is its their choice and I think that is the vital point, it's all about choice

See I'm more than happy to "waste" that kind of money on yet another tractor that I don't REALLY need
I bought a smokers tractor 13 months ago. After a party pack of air fresheners and a few air con bombs it’s not too bad now but the cab interior still smells a bit. Good job it was cheap......

And yet, your quick enough to condemn the hare courser, who as its his choice, decimates your wheat!

Would that be still classed as "a smoker" ?
Early days yet its still only janaury. Im not overly hopeful of kicking the habit as the days get longer usage could creep up. The trouble is i enjoy smoking and have only agreed to quit or try anyway to appease the missus who banned smoking in the house and car. The money is irelevant as it would get spent anyway. All this anti smoking stuff puzzles me ok its not healthy but neither is drug taking or smoking pot, yet the liberal luvvies clamour for relaxed laws on pot !!!!!!!

It wasn't easy, still isn't really.
I'd have said after the first 6 months, you begin to let your guard down, and about then is when most re-start their habit just because they know they can do it..... I suppose it's like spending your savings and paying it back, it sort of stops being "savings" at that point.
But it can be done, you just have to really want to, no point trying if you are not convinced.. probably much easier if you have a proper, tangible reason to kick it.

Health stats etc weren't really enough for me - smokers take more days off work, well, so do vegans, so do employed people.

I also really quite enjoyed the ritual of rolling up and lighting up, while I assess a situation or mentally prepare for a task, the vape just doesn't take long enough.
When I was on that, I'd have a puff and then still spend 5 minutes "checking my nuts" so it doesn't really affect productivity to the degree the anti's like to say it does - some people just feck around out of habit, smoking isn't really causing them to be wired that way... I'd rather be thorough anyway, that's my habit.
Also, hear what you're saying about the hooch, despite a fair bit of propaganda it can actually have some positive benefits if used right - such as helping to heal some of the damage caused by smoking cigarettes!

Well, I don't believe in being the forum's most southern hypocrite.
I'll support anyone who wants to break a habit, make a change, or develop themselves.
Yeah, it smells, it smells great if you are an addict!

I only find smoke offensive if it's in a confined place, or worst of all, stale smoke in a tractor A/C system :yuck:

Some people just have very little respect for others, when I smoked I would simply nub out my smoke if I saw anyone coming, and then if they lit up then I'd do the same.

I'm certainly the last one to bust a ball about what other people do with their lives, it's all about the choices we make.. even if those choices are daft, too.

My wife is still smoking, just doesn't quite have the willpower yet, and that was probably the most difficult bit for me.

On our ranch, smoking's fine, if you brung it, smoke it... but just respect the people and the environment, we don't want fires to put out, and we don't want our kids seeing us do wrong.

From what I’ve seen, No Smoking signs are only obeyed by non smokers, I had a relief miller once who I never caught smoking but I knew she was, I could smell it the far side of the cubicle shed.
There was a picture on Facebook the other day of a well known dairy farmer with loads of pi$$ take about had he got lost/ come out of hibernation etc, standing in the parlour putting a unit on, looking as happy as a pig in sh!t with a fag in his gob.:ROFLMAO:

Great advert for milk.....Milking parlours are surely NO Smoking full stop?? I wonder what his milk buyer would have to say about it - I'm sure their factories are no smoking environments!

Taking drugs is worse and how is smoking cannabis supposed to be healthier?? Godsake.

Have to cold turkey to stop, not cut down.

I was “fortunate” in that I smoked rollies - about 30 or so a day for 20 odd years - then one day threw the tin and lighter in the bin. Don’t know why really other than the missus said I could go back to motorbikes if I quit. That was more than 15 years ago. Mind, I never broke a bone smoking.

Point being, rollies had to be made whereas pulling a smoke from a pack pre-made is quick, easy and lethal to your will power

No smoking on the farm. Had a summer on a tractor that had been smoked in and no amount of magic trees could make it better.

I know a contractor who lost a tractor and baler when the driver flicked his fag out the back window.

Good point Pete about having a smoke whilst assessing the situation, so not really wasting time, and in any case I probably spend more time boiling the kettle and making tea than the average smoker spends on smoke breaks
