over the last few years a lot of our suppliers have asked us if they can email us their invoice to help save the planet.
Bollox! It's saving them money and hassle, where's the benefit to us? Our bills are no lower, perhaps they should put a £1 charge on any invoice that people still want posted.
I don't let them have our email address anymore

A quid? I'd be charging ten times that if someone demanded a paper invoice for anything. Such a pointless waste of resources.

We don't even print payslips these days, haven't done for years. All emailed and available for download from the employee portal.

Anything paper-based that gets sent here is immediately scanned into the document management software and the paper copy shredded and recycled, though it's increasingly rare to get anything other than junk mail these days; that goes straight to the shredder.

Join the modern world. Not everything has to start "Hear Ye, Hear Ye...." and be hand written on parchment any more.

I prefer it. I'd go as far to say that I'd avoid companies that still send by post. Of course I'm not that picky. I certaintly make a pick of asking. But not including payment details on invoice is a little annoying.

So all your suppliers electronically invoice you? If so you're lucky as you only need to run one paperless system.
Unfortunately many farmers have suppliers who do not and so paper systems prevail as it is easier to deal with, ask my wife.who does our accounts!

The firm I work for is supposed to be going "paperless" but the Taxman still wants to see hard copies so I get them emailed to me, print off a copy for head office, sign it off & code it for the accounts then photocopy that for my own records... :banghead:

50p stamp saved and a lot better for the planet

What’s not to like ?

Should be law imo

If you are still using 50p stamps for second class post then the receivers are probably having to pay • Letters/Large Letters - insufficient postage paid - £1.50 flat fee - for their post as well -

Went up to 58p at the beginning of March

Franking is 44p 2nd class and 60p 1st class.

I hardly use stamps these days. 9 out of 10 are probably to send passports to CTS

What will you do when the Earth take a direct hit from a solar flare that wipes out your hard drive and all your cloud back ups... of course WHEN it happens we will be back 200 years but without the skills and infrastructures, lost invoices will be the least of our worries.

Much prefer paperless - forward the email to our accounts and it’s saved with no need to print or input

Should be Law that Auctioneers pay BACCS too, a cheque 2 weeks after sale takes the pee, not only do they sit on a couple million quid but I then have to go pay the bloody thing in.

In that event I suspect finding an old invoice for HMRC will be pretty low on the list of my priorities, and everyone else's for that matter.

I'll add it to my risk mitigation plan though, somewhere between a meteor strike and alien invasion.

Probability of it occurring is higher than both of those, it would solve global warming and pollution as the resulting panic culls a big chunk of the population in the west.
