I thought that this pointless waste of time had disappeared, but NSF/ farm assurance and a new inspector have decided that it is a non conformance to not have one.

Yes, they have a template one on the website. They want a field by field assessment of risk. This despite my farm being pancake flat and uniform soil type. Sigh.

The amount of clipboard wielding folk that we are paying for is getting to an epidemic level, beyond a bloody joke. Repetition, duplication, utter bs. Every year, a new raft of 'You must' rules, mostly adding cost, zero value, and designed to keep said clipboards in a job.
I have eight pig inspections a year alone, plus accs, AP, etc etc.

And they wonder why farmers are having issues with mental health.

It’s a waste of time but print the template off and it takes a couple mins to write something on it. You could almost fill it in in the time he’s asking you for it!

Inspectors must know whether anyone is doing anything right or wrong they just get told what they need to hear to pass
I know when some farms get their inspections as there is a major tidy up
You don’t see Vosa telling you when there going to be at the side of the a1 or wherever

never seen anyone die because there is a cobweb in the parlour

You're quite correct, but why? What good does it do? Where's the value gained from it? #justmorehasslefornowt #letfarmersfarm
I agree with you! I suppose if ever questioned by the public in future it’s another box ticked to provide confidence that we’ve addressed an issue over however many years. I’m in no way defending it

Public go on about how much farmers get,how much goes to ministry
And are there any major things these inspections show up
Also wonder how many things they find wrong only gets done to please them then get left afterwards
I always believe you can tell how a farmer carries on by just driving in their yard
And how many farmers have a catch up with paperwork prior to their visit

It's using legislation to replace common sense isn't it - there's no trust - no one with any sense would use a dirty bucket to load grain - indeed some have a dedicated bucket - but if there's no bucket cleaning records, then it's assumed contaminated. The bucket isn't inspected, and a bit of paper doesn't mean it's clean! Crackers.
Every farmer has a catch up on paperwork pre inspection, to make sure all is in order.

There's a big difference between vosa stopping an overloaded/dangerous truck on a motorway and an accs inspector looking at a few bits of paper and a grain store!

Not a problem with vosa, what I’m probably trying to say is how much is done because the farmer knows he’s getting a inspection where as we’ve to keep hgvs right all the time because you don’t get notice there going to inspect you at the side of the rd

I'm right with you there, we've run trucks too (still do, for another week) and as you say VOSA give no warning. It's common sense though, VOSA are looking at the legality as re weights, and the safety aspects of that, which is important. The transport equivalent of accs is TASSC, which is no walk in the park, but similar to farm assurance in its nature, no random roadside TASSC inspections, because trailer washout records (for example) don't affect the safety of the public on an every day basis. The pre TASSC inspection week is like the pre ACCS week, checking all paperwork is there and up to date.
Its in my interest to keep my trucks right regardless of the threat of a VOSA check, for the safety of my drivers, the public, and my livlihood.
