Can anyone recommend any companies to install a solar powered system for a domestic supply , had a ridiculous quote from western power to provide a new domestic supply, so i'm looking at solar options,

Dont forget, most production from solar 75% is in the months April - September, but when do you need most power? Can anyone recommend any companies to install a solar powered system for a domestic supply , had a ridiculous quote from western power to provide a new domestic supply, so i'm looking at solar options,

If you have a stream or river hydro is a far better solution. Can anyone recommend any companies to install a solar powered system for a domestic supply , had a ridiculous quote from western power to provide a new domestic supply, so i'm looking at solar options,
Well yes, but i am beginning to realise it's not as simple as you think, then there is the ongoing maintenance, batteries don't last forever do theyWindy down in Cornwall too...
Are you thinking of a full off-grid system?
I do have a stream, but it's 300 mtrs away so might be too far awayIf you have a stream or river hydro is a far better solution.
300 metres is nothing. Keep the voltage as high as you can then step down at the house.I do have a stream, but it's 300 mtrs away so might be too far away
I dont know but how about the mole valley f . one 'mole energy' ? they wont be the cheapest but should be sound i wouldve thought .
Where do i look for info on a hydro system ?300 metres is nothing. Keep the voltage as high as you can then step down at the house.
Look on here. tell us a few facts and lots of pictures we will soon sort you out and point you in the right direction. Main parameters are highest point of your land and lowest point. Then how much flow in middle of summer and middle of winter.Where do i look for info on a hydro system ?
When you say highest point, i take it you mean highest place with running water ?Look on here. tell us a few facts and lots of pictures we will soon sort you out and point you in the right direction. Excellent. So maximum head 30 mtrs Running head 16 mtrs. Looking good just need the flow now.
Orange dot is highest point with running water 240 mtrs
Green dot highest point on farm 254mtrs
Blue dot lowest practical point of farm 224 mtrs
Purple dot farm yard and dwelling
Distance between orange dot and blue dot is 1000 mtrs in a straight line
How do you suggest i go about measuring that ?Excellent. So maximum head 30 mtrs Running head 16 mtrs. Looking good just need the flow now.
Simple method using 100mm pipe and sand bags. Place sandbag in stream then place 100mm pipe on top of sandbag then fill round pipe with more sandbags to create a dam. If pipe runs full you have plenty of water to have a useful hydro system on that head.Water flow i wouldn't know how to go about measuring that, varies a lot between summer and winter
