So Chae do you live in god's country or is it a case that "the de'il looks aifter his ain";)

Nae idea! Just don't seem to be getting rain as bad as they did up north first time and not had a great deal today so consider myself lucky. Only have 18 acre ready to cut and another 30 that was sprayed off on Friday, about 100 acres of straw lying.

Probably the biggest .

Really good soil farms can do closer 5t in a good year, if you are lucky enough to farm land like that then 4t should be still possible when weather isn't ideal etc

Little chance of me getting close to that on my poor sand though but I'm sure there are some that can

Yes , but you can go when others are waiting , free draining soils will win more times than they lose. in the current climate at any rate .

95% sold to lock the base price plus premiums , some over £40, they wont last, and the base isnt likely to make up the difference... at least thats where i stand at the moment.,

Trouble with selling the premium is at this point it becomes a default contract so you need to be pretty sure your sampling is representative of what you have and it is good enough or you could find yourself having to find some expensive to buy milling wheat to cover any default

Agree to selling base but premiums have legs and will stay high until next may in my view.

Hope your right but if millers get sick of messing about with poor quality uk crops and say rubbish lets just order a few boat fulls from Canada etc then premiums could equally fall

I will take premium on the day of delivery, forward selling default-able quality is a mugs game IMO

No problems this year, which is nearly a first, 4 merchants have tested the various lots class 1 and 3, and all agree its full spec, some proteins up to 13.9, which on 3.5t/ac+ yields is explainable or is alzon really that good?

Committed the last of wheat today. Most won't leave farm until the spring but seriously nervous about where the price could end up by then. Never had all wheat sold so early before as would generally keep selling a bit each month. Don't like changing marketing strategy so abruptly especially when price sold for is so crap.
My average price I can make a profit on which is main thing but still sat here wondering if done right thing. Will have to wait until May to know.
Sold 25% of osr for Jan but still got 75% to sell which won't need to leave until June. Leaves me something to worry about over the next few months.
