@Clive Did the sale price work out to what you were expecting, going from past markets?

we were a bit late buying vs what my reading of past markets suggest was best pulse sold bit early for my liking but the guy I partnered with wanted too sell, I would have sold a couple f weeks latter (about now) and should have seen a bit more margin if we had

sometimes I think no preconceptions about how you should do it is a positive thing

so more sheep next year then ?

will certainly have some I think

plan is to put cover crops in that are better suited to grazing

I still think ewes are the safer / better bet despite lambs doing better this year

not sure what to do re a % of cull ewes being in lamb ? that needs solving before this is scalable

or I have been asked to b&b 600 ewes oct 1st - march 1st next year, might be a better bet but unsure what its worth

more than happy in the end , much to my surprise ! I think they really enjoyed it and appreciated being out on land rather than stuck workshop all winter

it wasn't really a vast amount of work looking after 200, 7-10 day fence moves taking about 2hrs and a daily check all was well was as complex as it got

so plans for cattle still on hold ?

Cattle outside are not good for soil in the uk climate and it make little sense keeping them inside taking food to them and shite away from them - just adds cost

i think its grazing that will benefit soil more than just a much source alone, I can get the cow muck imported with a less bother or capital than is involved in keeping them

Did you graze any of the winter crops or were they just on cover crops all winter?
