Sowing oats.

Any one ever sown oats with vicon veri-spreader then followed with einbok harrows? I know I won't have any tram lines but field is only 5acre and I already have these implements. Thanks

I broadcast mine with a spinner and work them in. Works a treat, quick and inexpensive.

Hope to do 12 acres today, (been waiting for fertiliser). I use Parmiter harrows, good tip is harrow in at an angle to how the ground was worked before sowing, corner to corner working around so finish opposite corners , seed at 2cwt/acre(100kg). Does fine. How it used to be done by our ancesters only they had horse power or even just manpower.

They are oats. They will grow howsoever you get them on the ground.

Oats are a very rewarding crop to grow, it takes a lot t forget them not to look impressive once they get going. Crack on!

Thanks people. I've powerharrowed tonight. I'll go though it again tomorrow then sow it and harrow twice and roll
