We use spaldings occasionally. Find it best to make an enquiry, then ignore their calls for a couple weeks. They usually have a more sensible price when I do answer then.

Use spaldings here for grab tines and cultivator bits etc. I ring the rep and he tells me his best price and job usually done. If they don't fit he picks them up or send a courier no problems. Some things they just can't price competitively I'll admit but I always ask the price first.

I had an account with Spaldings and found out that they had closed it when i rang up to get a price on a drill doctor as i had heard they were cheaper from them. When i asked why, they said 'because you haven't used it'. My reply was 'thats cos your too dear' and then we had the lengthy conversation about beating prices(there way) and best price first(my way). I still haven't got an account and my drill doctor came from Amazon.
What sort of Drill Doctor did youbuy, and what do you think of it? They seem expensive , and anything like that I've bought haven't been much cop.

A 750 one, the biggest. Once you get the hang of using it its fine. I like the fact that it's a diamond wheel that does not need dressing to keep it true like other sharpeners. Set up of the bit in the holder is key to it working well.
