Squeaky steering column

Hi,
my case Puma 230 has a squeaky grinding noise coming from the steering wheel when you turn. It sometimes binds and becomes stiff momentarily. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a bearing in there causing this maybe?

Replace steering column with latest part number, not overly expensive or big job. Pretty common complaint on the older CNH stuff

Righto thanks. It’s a 2013. Is it possible to replace just the bearing, or not worth the hassle?

It is but you'll be back in the same situation down the line, they are onto about the 3rd revision of the part now and haven't seen any failures for a long time.

I have a similar problem with a NH 8340. Grab hold of the steering wheel and give it a sharp pull towards you. It‘ll move about a quarter of an inch and the grinding and stiffness stops.
