From being free to Ā£20 an acre down here.
Depends on how many thistles and what size of field!
All depends on the fields and the grass i agree but theres alot trying to find grass to sell the hay . Plenty of horsey folks wanting hay in the winter driving demand more so than farmers, although hay through a straw chopper for bedding is looking likely on many farms this winter too

Horse numbers are declining in this area. The costs of Livery are taking their toll on those with a lower income.
Oddly the price of good horses have increased but probably because those that can afford them want better animals.

We're in Dorset and don't pay anything. Lots of people have too much land and grass and need it cut and removed. Seems fair to me, as we've had to buy the machinery (and pay to repair it) and take the time to do the haymaking.
