Sterile strip sprayer

What do other people use for spraying the sterile strip around the edge of fields? We currently use a micron sprayer with one of their hoods. Works well but too narrow. Needs to have a hood or shroud as we often have to spray when it is a little windy. We have it on a JD gator. Any pictures gratefully accepted for inspiration.

Hi Jack,
i use a Honda foreman quad bike with boom sprayer on the rear. I shut off the other nozzles and just have the LH one spraying. I put a shield down the side of the left rear wheel which extends passed the boom which shelters the crop from being sprayed i then drive around the field anti clockwise and it doesn't seem to matter whether its windy or not.
Good luck.

I managed to get hold of a central heating header tank from a plumber mate of mine who had just installed a closed centre system for a customer - it is just under a metre wide, used some box metal and a couple of jet holders and some pvc sprayline so it fits to my logic sprayer dead centre of the bike. ive never had a drift problem with it.

Do similar to above , just one nozzle going ,it one you can turn so it gives narrower spray width ,cannot think what its called , ,and have made row crops for quad out of space saver wheels , and also have put a retractable garden hose with lance now ,so can stop at a pole or corner and spray a bit on foot ,and use same for spraying grainstores out

Saw this at a farm sale a few years ago. Frame pivots out to the side of the quad (top left bolt) and the hood is obviously 20L cans.
Didn’t buy it, so I’m still using a single jet cable tied to a tree stake jammed into the front carry frame.

I'm usually spraying as much crop off as carp next to it. There is still at least 2m from the centre of the hedge or 1m from the top of a ditch bank. Them's the rules.
Sterile strip is often used by wildlife to dry itself off after rain etc.
There's plenty of wild areas for the wild life on my farm
