I know I've asked this ages ago.
Had an odd job. Just labour only to erect posts and ht net but no barb. it's a complicated story....
How much per m? Be a few thousand m.
We'll start with how many m's can you put up in a day.

Fixed costs like Tractor, knocker, tools, fuel , insurance will cost you £200+ per day.
Then you have labour costs and business profit.
Divide all that by how many m's you put up.

Short answer I wouldn't think it'll be less than £4/m but then I never price work on a m basis.

I'm not an out and out fencing contractor but make a fair job. It just part of what I've done for 25yrs for customers that ask.

Depends where you are fencing, round here you could be 6 hours putting in a strainer, pecking out rock with a digger. Nobody wants to pay for that, but they don't want their strainers lying over either so not sure what they want

Sounds around £3 a metre, I think that’s the going rate.

I don’t get the working out your own costs argument. If someone else is £3 you’ve got to either do it to a better standard or cheaper. I don’t pay more for material if it turns up on newer lorry.

I doubt there’s much rock around Surrey though 👍
