Doesn't look like much now but that is 6 weeks work. For some scale that tunnel is 8 foot diameter, all rebuilt from scratch. Don't usually use mortar but needed it in there due to the force of the water
Top marks to you there, how did you get stone up there then?:scratchhead: Did you put some scaffold across?I dont think you"ve walled overhand when you got to ground level,it"s to tidy!(y)

Awesome! (y) Built a big brick archway like that a long tIme ago (30 years) Went to view it last year and it's still looking ok. Did you keep the former or destroy it when you finished? Did you do it in sections moving the former forward each time?

It's hard to tell from the photo but the tunnel is on a slight angle so the form would be no good for any other tunnel. We made the form the full length of of the rebuild and just dismantled it at the end.

looks very good , just wondered why do they lower the level of the reservoir , do they not use it for drinking water now? , and how much did they lower it , thanks
Generally seems to be the spillways are starting to leak, so rather than re build the whole, they lower them, a lot of lower level reservoirs were not built for drinking water, they were built to supply local mills, which have now gone, so the volume is no longer required.

They tell me also that we are to expect a once in a thousand year biblical flood and the reduced level will stop it coming over the top of the dam. They are all computer generated theoretical floods far worse than last winter. God help us. Not to sure if my efforts will be up to that sort of event
