Straw chopper

Bought a teagle 404m straw mill at an auction. Knowing little about any straw chopper/bedder it was more of an experiment. It has a 20mm screen in it takes forever to chop and is a bit fine for my needs.
Question is has anyone tried a 120x40 slotted sieve in one and does it make it go any faster or should I just move it on and get a different model.
Just want it for bedding sheep don't need a massive amount of blow or spread.

What you have is a machine for processing Straw to mix in a tub I presume, what you need is a McHale straw blower which can push a bale through in seconds if you want it too.

Just take screen out? I'd image it would work fine without it.

Tried that, it's a bit savage as screen forms part of the flywheel housing so straw actually hits the blower paddles

That’s not really a straw bedder you’ve got.
Good news is it’s got a fair bit of value so you’ll be able to sell it on and buy the right thing for no money.
You’ll get fixed up for a couple grand

As the old adage says “other bale shredders are available” actually it was the French that invented the turbine distribution system, not the UK or an Ireland.

It will chop faster yes, using brittle spring barley straw in our mill through a 20mm screen atm for cubicles and I just keep driving. Usually takes a while in a normal year and have to ride the clutch
