Stupid inventions...

Not so much a stupid invention, but stupidity in itself......why can't they just print, in big clear words, the mixing instructions for milk powder ? Every year it's the same, fannying about squinting at an essay of tiny print trying to find the only bit that matters, how many scoops in how much water. Drives me mad, have reached the conclusion that none of the people designing feed bags have ever actually fed a lamb.

And another thing, wormers, why the fudge do they give a dose rate down to 10kg but stop at 70kg ? Anyone less familiar with their sheep may understandably assume from the label that none of their ewes are going to be heavier than 70kg. Are these drug firms actively trying to promote underdosing and hence resistance ? Or are the labels again designed by idiots who have never wormed a sheep ? Why not print the dose rate up to 90kg to ensure it encompasses most breeds ?

And they dont include a scoop in the bag or tell how big it should be. Got to get the scales out and weigh EXACTLY it says.

I had one of those and couldn't get on with it.
I now pull the legs, with or without a rope, and push the head into the pelvis from outside. Much quicker than trying to get something around the head and less intrusion has to be better at avoiding infections.
Interesting, I must try that.

If I can remember until next year!

If he can pull the legs, push the head from outside AND take a video at the same time I'll be very impressed!
You beat me to it.
Pull with the right hand, better without ropes if you can grip well enough, so don't need so much reach, and push the head with the left. It's surprising how well you can feel the head through the side of the sheep. Push with the fingers and thumb to steer it.

No, get the feet, put strings on and shove them back. With feet out of the way can usually draw the head one way or another then the feet follow on the end of the strings.
Yes, always feet back in to get the head pointing in the right direction.

But, and we are talking about those (hopefully!) few exceptionally tight cases for whatever reason, it is rather counter-intuitive to be putting all the pressure on the legs if the head is what you need to shift.

So a loup of wire behind the little lugs with a handle on the end for one hand, pull the legs by whatever means with the other.

I maybe only use it two or three times per year, just once this year I think, but wouldn't be without one.

Probably should mention, the wire they're made off (electrical presumably) will bend but isn't flexible so you shape it and push it in as required from the outside with one hand and then guide it over the little lugs with the other.

I actually agree on that, like War and Peace on some bags.
