My lambing kit consists of arm length gloves, bottle of lube, length of conventional baler band and a very sharp knife. It’s been that way for 30 years and not likely to change. Pretty much all you need. The lambing jack, I think I've seen it all now...

Would rather at length of very thin rope than baler twine but apart from thatMy lambing kit consists of arm length gloves, bottle of lube, length of conventional baler band and a very sharp knife. It’s been that way for 30 years and not likely to change. Pretty much all you need.
Got plenty so if it gets used it just gets replaced with a “new” piece.Would rather at length of very thin rope than baler twine but apart from that![]()
At the same time, I could see it could be useful to someone who has the common sense to realise how much pressure is enough. An extra hand would definitely be useful at times. That will be an instrument of torture in the wrong hands
The problem with that is I suspect the majority of it's customer base wouldn't have much common sense. At the same time, I could see it could be useful to someone who has the common sense to realise how much pressure is enough. An extra hand would definitely be useful at times.

Always used to have a loop of starter cord (which lasted for years) as it was stiffer than bale string.
Gone proper fancy with a new toy this year though...

Fantastic for looping behind heads.![]()
I wouldn't rule out using one because my hands are a bit mangled now, but would need assistant to hold the ewe. It's not going to be the same as positioning a cow with a calving hurdle. That can be precarious enough!OTOH just to be positive and out of character (must be the sleep deprivation) I could see someone with bad hand arthritis appreciating that. When my Mom got rheumatoid arthritis it was an eye-opener

We make them with a bit of wire stripped from twin and earth and a bit of broom handle , the wire is stiff enough to hold a loopAlways used to have a loop of starter cord (which lasted for years) as it was stiffer than bale string.

If farmers had any good sense they wouldn't keep livestockPeople without sufficient good sense shouldn't be allowed to keep livestock really.
