That’s my theory too, I’d rather spend some on mag tubs that they actually have good intakes with than pay for a dead cow and it’s replacement. A lot of the cheaper mag tubs they won’t touch, mag is bitter so intakes are poor.
Bought a ton of cheaper ones off Mole Valley years ago...after 2 weeks told them to pick the beggars up as the only thing they had any use for was hardcore in my gateways...Made by a Scottish Firm...

What exactly is Fog Fever...heard of it but never seen it..
I couldn’t tell you exactly but we had a couple when milking years ago. Went to get them in for afternoon milking at about this time of year. Damp with a late afternoon chill in the air. One cow looked lack lustre, was drooling with a snotty nose (clear), and all she wanted to do was turn on the spot and eye ball me. Decided the only answer was to walk her in for a jab or vet visit but she dropped dead after 50 yards.

Anyone else had a rough time of time of it? We had a dead cow on Wednesday morning and then two more side by side this morning, all in the same field.
Its very mild to bring them in ,which brings its own problems. They look content enough and have plenty straw , molasses and mag buckets, their spring calves are on them and creep fed. We have never had an issue for years, so a bit pee'd off.
Vet was here , its not anthrax.....and will give mag and ca level results later.
Anyone else have stock not liking it?

S.
What were the results?

I’m undecided if to bring our autumn calved cows in, weathers holding up and they’re having silage in ringfeeder. Bull to go in next week. Should they be going on a bit of hard feed to get more energy in? they’ve always been in this time of year as it’s normally pishing it down

I won’t use MVF ones, it’s either crystalix, or rumenco maxx as I know they take them.

been using rumenco for years, exactly the same as crystalyx EHE in my experience but couple quid cheaper. always get the 80kg ones as the tubs are brilliant for feeding cake out of the bulk bin. sooo much better than bags
