You could apply from yesterday until a months time. They will then know how many tonnes have been committed to the futures contract and finalise the formula so that the futures contract starts @ £40/t in a months time. Ideally the world sugar price would keep falling until then and once finalised hopefully the world price would increase again, increasing the futures price above £40/t.
