I might be wrong but I believe that there are a couple of varients in the pin and cone headstock,,,,,,,,,, from the cone to the bottom of the backplate, if you have the bigger one you can have issues getting of the implement
You are right the older telerams the pins were right at the bottom where at the newer ones early 90s onwards have 5 or 6 inches bellow the pins

We have two jcbs on pin and cone. One is standard and the other is deep. Definitely slightly trickier getting some implements off the deeper one. Not difficult by any means, just need to be aware of it otherwise you can bend holes where cone goes on implement.
