Really the 5k payment should be ignored in the long term decision making process as it is only relevant to the pilot, regardless of it’s duration in the pilot. I must say I at least expected it to run for the duration of the pilot? Even more disappointing.
The only reason there is any interest here is the £5K bribe and an opportunity to show how the scheme itself does not stack up financially when complying ( or more likely not) with the constraints applied to my business.

Yes, agree. I just thought it was so far out on all fronts that I was best letting them know by not completing my application and providing feedback. I just couldn’t risk my rotation on a 3 year trial and all of the problems it would bring. I don’t disagree with what they want to do but all of the risk is on me with half my tools taken and payment rates that are completely unrealistic. I just don’t know, at DEFRA, who actually thought it looks attractive?

Same. It's the only reason we applied. To start to be paid for all the effort going into getting the thing changed.

Really don't want to get into any spats on here, but you have to ask yourself a question.

" Why would Defra have decided that they need to come up with convoluted ways to try and get farmers to change how they farm ? Did they come up with it in a vacuum ? Or was it influenced by high profile members of the farming industry whispering in their ear 'Pssst, there's good ways of farming, and bad ways, you need to come up with schemes to subsidize me, because i'm one of the good guys' ".

Your cynicism has developed new lows @delilah ......

As if something as underhand could happen! Unless you call the NT, "members of the farming industry"?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
