Deaths of old people are actually inevitable rather than unfortunate.
Christmas always causes lots of viruses to be passed around and January February deaths of old people.
Sympathy just flows out of you . I’ve kept away from a friend of mine since March as he has a few health problems also my in-laws as they are either side of 80 but still ok for there age . It’s a good job to as I May when positive have passed the virus on to them without knowing it .

But they haven't ruined their economy and caused thousands to die from other causes because too scared to access healthcare.
Or made masks mandatory.
Or stopped you meeting your friends and loved ones

There have been some restrictions there though and they appear to be tightening them further as cases and hospital admissions are rising sharply.
I believe gatherings are now limited to 8 people.
Their economy hasn't got away unharmed either.

My daughter, now 21, when a little girl, about 4, if I recall collected a posy of snowdrops to take to see here Granny, my mother. We toddled along to her little council bungalow, my daughter full of joy. When she presented the posy of snowdrops my mother went ballistic demanding the snowdrops were taken out of the house crying 'don't bring death into my house' I found out she never allowed Snowdrops in the house.

Of course me and my brother being lads had never thought of this before, nor realised the significance of Snowdrops.

Oh, and somewhat ironically, for her fear of January winter death, she passed away in the early hours of a warm August day six years ago.

Heard its all going Pete Tong in Sweden now.
Yep 7 covid deaths recorded on the 23rd and 3500 new cases although on the 10th of November 35 people died. It is a disaster. Unlike the UK where luckily the old folk are banged up in care homes with no Family contact and if they go to hospital fir any reason stand a good chance of picking it up there as has happened to my Dad.

Around half the deaths of Covid in Sweden have been in care homes . So if they had limited family visits those figures could have been a lot lower .

No one comes out of this well. It is an unmitigated disaster. Lots of people have died and in protecting others we are racking up a multigenerational debt a massive mental health problem and a future health crisis and the NHS that everyone is protecting will probably be unaffordable in the future. So being a bit smug about other countries is pointless. Here in Kenya we cannot protect the health service we cannot afford furlough and deaths as of yesterday was 1400 in total. Maybe people should start looking here for answers.

But when Seven meet his grandma and gave her COVID she later unfortunately died

Our rules don't prevent paddy the Englishman from visiting his granny either. They just prevent kids from playing, teens from doing teeny stuff, and 20's, 30's and 40's from doing normal things - none of which, on average, are in very much danger from Covid.

Much better to have a strategy for how to handle granny during this, and let the thing burn through the rest of us. We've spent ten months dragging this thing out as long as we reasonably could, and would spend another ten months doing the same, if not for the intervention of vaccinations.
