Teacher sacked for kicking a horse

There was something on the Today program this morning saying that it costs councils about £4500. PER WEEK!!! for a place in a children’s home. You’ve got to wonder how the provision of a safe environment for a child in need has got so out of kilter with reality. (Just to be clear - that means that putting a child into a children’s home for just two years costs almost half a million pounds.)

Medium secure placement will be approaching 300K a year, a bed in CAHMS would be 200K at a guess but that will be averaged. I have known colleagues who have worked in children's psychiatric care and some kids require 8 to 1 round the clock care which doesn't come cheap.

I can't see how a place in a social care (rather than psychiatric) unit could possibly cost £4500 a week?

I’ve heard that before and it just seems wrong. As a dad, if I thought my kids were getting up to no good of an evening when they were 12,13,14 years old, I’d have a bloody good go at not allowing them out. It seems like a gross dereliction of duty that when ‘the authorities’ assume responsibility for children they do not restrict their liberty a bit where necessary.

30 to 40K a year for Eton?- peanuts! Maybe we SHOULD give kids in care a first-class boarding school education instead.

Maybe sending these kids to boarding school is the answer at 30K a year that would be cheap?

It will be MDT meetings which will involve a lot of different people. This is to try and halt anything untoward happening.
But most of the people at an MDT meeting will not be being paid out of that 4.5K/w. The direct carer will, but the doctor, teacher, police etc will come out of different budgets entirely.

(Mrs SJY is a community paediatrician-most often she doesn’t get paid at all for attending MDTs as they always get scheduled for her day off, but she goes anyway🙁)

Sorry but I found the video awful...as if the horse will associate a slap round the head for refusing to load?? idiot woman
This is the point, it was bad practice and not an acceptable way of handling. The person should have known better if, as claimed, she had a lifetime of experience. Nothing worse than a head shy horse. The person should also have had more sense to realise they would likely be filmed at a hunt. This will not sit well here, but I don't think I would be riding with a hunt if employed as a school teacher. It should not matter what legal pastime someone has in private life, in reality it will likely lead to problems.

It matters not what is right or wrong in anyones eyes , if what you've done doesn't fit the keyboard warrior's narrative , they are coming for you and if some so called celebrities jump on board too , then you're in for a rough ride . Unfortunately this is just the tip of iceberg, look at Norwich Market 👎

Yet Jack Straw, who sat in the cabinet of the government that forced the Hunting Bill through, regularly used to ride out to hounds…🤔

It is probably bad training (flawed psychology) but horses kick each other all the time and they are considerably more powerful than any human! She probably shouldn't be teaching anyway on the grounds of stupidity.

The usual keyboard warriors are stirring up online threats & hatred, I hope she has a good legal team and deep pockets (n)

I can see the Cottesmore getting absolutely crucified this season.
