Teat sealing heifers.

We use a squeeze crush, can do 20 an hour easy, even sit on a stool to do it. Just squeeze them up and open the door, quiet as you like. Decent squeeze crush is just a brilliant tool for keeping an animal quiet. We were having horrendous calving time mastitis in heifers, almost a third affected, in our autumn herd linked to serious wart issues. It was so depressing to see, and each year was getting worse than the last. Teat sealing 6 weeks pre calving has almost totally stopped the problem.
Is that on a spring or autumn herd?

I get the impression might be more worthwhile in Spring herds, as probably calved indoors, whereas autumn herds on standing hay in a dry field are a bit cleaner?

I went on a trip to Norn Iron and a farm there had little heifers tied (?) in stalls with a hayrack in front of them. Probably illegal now but a great idea
