I would say could be either
Obviously older ones 6 v probably 80 mm
Prob go 12 v with the 85 mm bore
@MrNoo will know i tink
Yes, older ones are 6v, a lot convert to 12v, I dont think you have to change much to go 12v, think just the regulator and coil (starters seem to work ok @ 12v) I have a 6v TEA and have left it standard, new points condenser and coil/rotor arm and it starts first time every time even with the original 1948 dizzy cap!
As said above they should be positive/ground and make sure you use some decent thick cables, esp if using 6v, some connect the ground cable direct to one of the bolts holding the starter motor to the block/box but it is a bit of a faff, I normally connect the ground to one of the lift cover bolts.

Is the TED a TVO or just petrol ? just looking here >https://old20tractorparts.com/30-t20-tea-ted-petroltvo It seems 6volt and 12 volt options are available so i presume the TVO would be 12 volt ?:scratchhead:
Quite a few TEA's (6 volt) were converted to run on TVO, most Fergie dealers of the time sold a kit, spacer plate for the head (to lower the compression) 2x head gaskets (one either side of the spacer plate) heat shield to warm up the manifold and i believe a set of pushrods to take account of the spacer plate having been fitted.
I dont know when they all changed to 12v but I know a man who would know, or it even maybe available on the internet but you will need your serial/chassis number, this will give you the year and if it still has the original gearbox/backend it will even tell you date of manufacture (within a couple of weeks)
On the right hand side (if you are sat on the tractor) down by the dip stick for the rear axle/gearbox there will be a casting set of numbers, 3 numbers, the last number is the year e.g. 2 is 1952 and the first 2 are the date/month. Very early tractors dont have these casting numbers, my TEA doesn't but then it was built Nov 1947 and sold to my grandfather Jan 1948.
