recently they were on offer /clearance they will drive without a pilot hole in thick timber , come with a drill bit, 8mm and some are 10mm hex head.
far better than these old origanal type ones

We built a new roof over our ex dairy a few years ago, first time I've done a cut roof on my own, I used those sort of screws, not touched a " normal" one since, they are brilliant with a Tex head, can put in loads to support timbers while you create the shape you need with additional braces etc and when it's done take out the braces etc and the screws are ok to reuse, and they pull in really well without ripping the head off.
