I do know a few defra employees regularly use TFF to glean information.Unconnected to this group though.

Senior people within Defra spend a good deal of time reading TFF; a thoroughly good thing. Whatever ELMS ends up looking like, we can safely say that its design will have been as democratic as any previous agricultural policy due to the ability of individual farmers to have input via this medium.

Re this group, yes they've probably been a tad naive in the name, but I suspect that that's all it is, naivety rather than any attempt to claim representation.
I wouldn't see it as any different from when Clive organizes a question time; the questions will come from TFF members and may well appear in some Defra write up as being 'TFF questions', but no-one would pretend that the questions are representative of all of the members.

Honestly, it could probably be blamed on the journalist as well. Anyone who's ever been interviewed knows how ridiculous they interpret stuff sometimes.

Someone saying "We're a grassroots group who met on TFF" is equally as likely to have happened and the journalist then named them the TFF Grassroots Group.

I quote "We are aware that TFF have applied for Round 2 of the “Future Farming Resilience Fund- Interim Phase project_32224” but are struggling to gain full DEFRA engagement"

Sound's like the film Jerry Maguire with Tom Cruise where he shouts down the phone, "show me the money"

Potentially more representative of farmer views than the NFU🤔

Why are any of them " representing " TFF
The only farmers we've ever claimed to represent are ourselves, certainly not the whole of TFF. Our evidence to the EFRA Committee made that very clear. We felt we weren't being represented by the organisations paid to do so though.

It's been a lot of work but anyone else can do the same if they feel unrepresented. That's the power of social media (which TFF is, by the way).
