The angry country

Unfortunately, what the media choose or don't choose to publicise doesn't stop it from happening.

The media played it's part in starting the Iraq war, publicising that Scud missiles could reach the UK. Which was later denounced as being incorrect.

Somerset flooding was blamed on UK farmers growing maize. Whilst the EA declined to maintain pumps and dredge dikes despite being paid to do so.

Cliff RIchard persecuted by Live BBC news coverage of a police raid. Innocent without being proved guilty ?

Child abuse allegations of certain Conservative Politicians.

Princess Diana misled by Martin Bashir.

Plenty of evidence of the media failing or abusing their position.

i start to wonder if Covid, climate change etc would even exist without the media🤔
The news now represents what people want to hear, more than ever.
They like a fake apocalypse and some futile instructions as to how to avoid it....put your mask on, put your cardboard in the green bag.
In the world of the internet/smartphones, this has been speeded up and homogenised with most outlets chasing the same majority of clicks. Hence the news is very similar across the world.
This leads governments who worry inordinately about the media(because it reflects the public mood) to enact the same policies.
These policies can then be justified along the lines.."all other countries are doing this"
