The big carry on is mule gimmer productionJust as well I've accepted I'll never be a "quality lamb" producer. I'm far too lazy for all that carry on.

I'll definitely never have anything to do with that carry on!The big carry on is mule gimmer production
Friend bought a yearling in Carlisle on Friday and he died in the truck on the way homeFeeding & management will shorten their lives in other ways, the Texel Throat is a separate issue, which should have been addressed by culling by now, but there seems little will to do so for some reason.
I wouldn't disagree on your last point.
At least he should be well covered for come back on that!!Friend bought a yearling in Carlisle on Friday and he died in the truck on the way home
Aye sounds about right! At least he should be well covered for come back on that!!

All joking aside, who pays what? Tup was fine at the fall of the hammer,if he wasn't insured by the vendor or the purchaser, would the vehicle insurance cover it? We had a Charollais lamb from the NSA once and dropped dead a week later,no comeback at all, even though the vet said he'd had long term pneumonia. Vendor said we'd have to take him to court for a £300 lambAt least he should be well covered for come back on that!!

If you fed your tups properly he would have been too fat and lazy to jump the hurdle so it was your fault‘Livestock in transit’ insurance should cover it, and easier than trying to prise the money from most vendors I would think.
I had a shearling ram jump out of the ring at early Builth 20 years ago, breaking his leg as he did. The NSA vet put him down shortly after.
Of course, he’d be insured on the premises wouldn’t he? Brightwells (the auctioneers) said if wasn’t down to them (despite providing a low ring with a horizontal rail at the top) and directed me to the NSA.
In turn, the NSA said it was nothing to do with them, and directed me to Brightwells.
Our (NFU) farm insurance covered it in the end, otherwise I’d still be going back and forth today.
I was quite surprised by Brightwell’s attitude though, considering I was selling 30-35 rams a year through them at the time.
Three months for any tup over 500 gns is normalA significant number of Beltexes sold at Carlisle came with NFU insurance for I think 5 months
Fastest tup death I've heard of was a friend of my dad came from by Kidderminster to the Builth sale for two Suffolk tups. Bought them off the same bloke, loaded one in the Daihatsu, came back with the second and the first one had died. Just to add to it,a member a of the public saw the dead tup being pulled out and reported to the RSPCA that he'd obviously been left in there too long and suffocated like a dog at the supermarket. Case got dropped a couple of days before court date

Dutch Texels are the original base of all, originating from the isle of texel, of the hook of Holland, Beltex, marketing badged dutch via Belgium.See those Dutch texels sold well and texel beltex also at Bentham. What's a Dutch texel.
‘Well he walked up to jeep looked up at me and then just dropped dead’This trend makes me feel great and not alone. I’ve bought one Beltex in my life, father used to check the sheep for me & rang one day. ‘Know that little butty ram you bought?’ ‘Well he walked up to jeep looked up at me and then just dropped dead’
Left some super lambs behind but haven’t been brave enough buy another since…..
That’s pretty common at most of the Society sales I think.
Personally, I consider it quite telling that that is considered necessary but hey ho, ‘Supreme’ they are.
