Sheep do strange things at times. I have removed many a happy sheep from all sorts of strange situations. They can get 2 horns through one square of net fencing which is physically impossible or choose the last place on earth to cross a ditch.
Take this lamb for example.

I can't find it now, but there's a video on either facebook or youtube of a man wrestling a sheep out ofa really steep ditch that couldn't get out. He managed to get it out on to the field, where the sheep promptly ran around and jumped straight back in.

We bought my lad a Lleyn ewe and twin lambs years ago. Got her home, into the field and dropped the trailer ramp…..

I have never seen a sheep move so fast. She charged across the field and head first into the wire fence. She writhed about and before we got to her all three had got between the top of the netting and the barbed wire strand. They then raced off and threw themselves headlong into a 5 ft deep ditch, with about 2 ft of water in it.

We raced after them and one of the lambs was under water. How it didn’t drown I have no idea. Of course, muggins here had to dive in…… in my brand new boots.

We got them all out and they roared off again but didn’t get into any more bother. We called the ewe Maddie.

She was literally mental. The last thing you wanted to do was get her into a stable. She would just run repeatedly at the wall , smashing her head every time until blood poured from her nose.

She wasn’t here long.

One day, I’ll tell you all about my Sunday morning helping to get my brothers cattle back home. Well, most of them anyway….

That is why the underlever rifle was developed. Oliver Winchester never forgot his early childhood, working with uncooperative livestock.
Race jumpers here get the next available transport out. Got a lamb this week that isn't heavy enough, but he won't see Tuesday.
