A few more.

Plenty of stones making it nearly impossible to get some of the posts in straight but not many folk go up there to inspect

Here's an easier piece to do although it can be boggy if you break through the grass. I stepped on what I thought was just a puddle on Tuesday morning and went in to my belly button. Stripped off and wrung out my clothes and dried out by about 4pm.

The old fence was put up in 1976 and many of the half round stakes are still good - some lying on the ground on the left in this pic.
We'll use these to replace the crap we put up in 2005 - 2010ish

Rich wanted a little gate for him to go out to the hill on his horse.

We'll have another 600 metres to do next autumn to finish the hill boundary.
The stobs that you have used where did you get them and are they guaranteed

Most of the box strainers I’ve seen in America/Canada have an horizontal at the top of the Vertical. Most ot the struts I’ve seen in the Antipodes use diagonals, with stobs knocked into around 1.8 m.
Personally, I use box strainers (expensive) where the ground is soft, and diagonals where the ground is good.
For diagonals I prefer knee height (any lower and my back complains). Stobs knocked in as far as they’ll go. Always try to position struts so they don’t foul the wrap of wire.
I’m not pulling up trees here, just doing what works for us and within budgets. Some stuff I see is over engineered and I wonder what the profit margins look like.
By the way, there’s some good looking work on here, in testing conditions.
We don’t have many big stones down here and I’m thankful for that.

I got a shot of my neighbours quickfencer, anyone know what the going rate is for hiring 1?
Need to give them something for it, fairly speeded the whole thing up.
We both dont know what the price should be.

They're not expensive or complicated things so a days hire should be worth £20/30. It's a starting figure if nothing else.

Where would I find a replacement spring kit for a chain monkey wire strainer? The 2 companies I found stocking them online now don't stock them.

Can't find a pic of the strainers but I think a set of these is what I need.

We have had the whole of our farm stock fenced and now actually have gate posts. So I have a lot of gates to hang on wooden posts.
Looking for tips on best ways to get them hung.

Thanks steve
