Might be a useful machine but I'm certainly underwhelmed by that promotional clip. Inconsistencies and obvious cgi don't bode well looking forwards.

Is there any indications of price yet?

From £40k according to Autocar.
Wishful thinking and for a commercial van plus VAT I guess. It is not going to be sold to the public for at least a year yet, so any pricing can only be a wild guess. My wild guess is that the station wagon will be around £60k plus extras inc VAT. A bit MORE expensive than the new LR Defender with a lot of extras included. If it is as well engineered as claimed, it will not have been built down to a price.

Personally I'm a bit disappointed with the design, which lacks almost all original thought. Why the heck do they have the body tapered in under the window line, like the old Defender, which compromises interior width for no good reason? The only reason I can think of is to copy the old Defender which is styling over function.

Is that it.... So they have traced a defender and smudged it a little. It wont be bought by defender city types as its not cool and no history....

If we had been able to buy Toyota Landcruisers here they needn't have bothered with this design and we would have 40 years of testing and reputation behind the product! What's the point?

Can we clarify something here?
No one seems to like this because it looks too much like a defender. Yet in the new defender thread, no one liked that because it looked nothing like a defender?.....
I don't particularly like the new Defender because it is just a styling exercise and the rear door is too narrow and opens in one piece to the side with a great lump of spare tyre attached. I much prefer the Disco 5 as a passenger vehicle if not for the lopsided arse. Landrover/RangeRover has this leisure/toy/SUV sector covered at all levels with a huge bloated range of models that should suit everyone.

None of JLR's products are made as commercial vehicles built for long term rough work off road with VAT and tax advantages that the class bring. The Grenadier will come in several forms, most of which will be officially classed as commercial vehicle including the double cab pickup.
