I bet they enjoyed the bus ride in from the sticks too. They couldn't rely on the City dwellers

Lech Walesa looked like he was there voluntarily

Isn't the current gaffer in Poland a bit of a twit also. Few Polish lads working in my place reckon he is throw back to the cave mentality!!

Hopefully he will tell Ms.Merkel that the folks back in the USA are sick and tired of paying 80% of the cost of defending Europe, apart from UK/Poland and GREECE the rest are just a bunch of freeloaders.

Good point. Trump can cite another "terrible deal" done by a predecessor President Truman in 1949 entering NATO or maybe call out that President's strategies - persuaded by Supreme Commander Eisenhower for USA to assist in post WW2 rebuilding whilst securing demilitarisation.

Post WW2 one of the causal effects was to create the two super powers USA / USSR and Germany has been a massive support and land base for "allied" military. I'm sure the US was there for more than altruistic reasons

Per capita of GDP most NATO counties pay 3 to 4 times more in than the US. However, I do subscribe to the idea that European counties should spend more.

Why? What exactly is the threat? France and the U.K. Maintain an independent deterrent already.

An attack on one member is an attack on all........ which would follow that an attack by a member on another member would also be quashed.
And you thought the EU has kept the peace in europe?

How do you know what I think?
Your garbled post doesn't describe a current threat that justifies increased defense spending.
