True enough, but people knew that so, they knew she couldn't take power, a protest vote if you like.In the last election, there was a huge swing to them, purely based in their populist policies. IF, they had run more candidates, in more constituencies, Mary Lou would be Taoiseach today☹.
Are FF & FG and others now pre warned, and more prepared to take them on in the next election? I hope so, but ….
President Clinton was right, it's the economy, and the ROI's economic recovery has been based - almost entirely - on entrepreneurship and investment (much of it foreign) which, looking at their policies and listening to their leaders, seem anathema to SF... and certainly a SF gov't would scare the sh!t out of most foreign investors.
The average guy in the ROI is no brighter or thicker than here, and we saw the what 'good' Mr Corbyn would do us trying to sell the same line as SF are over there, so we sent him packing. Having spent a fair bit of time in the Republic, and - post depression - have seen how leery people are of economic risk, I find it very hard to believe that if SF look like seriously gaining power, they'll get votes. From here it looks a lot like the FN / NR scenario in France. Horrible thought...
