The Track and Trace farrago

Isn't it about time this useless and pointless scheme managed by incompetent but skilful money grabbers had it's plug pulled. It has consumed £22 billon in six months of operation and has a further unconfirmed £16 billon for this current year. I now notice they have started to bodge the contact tracing figures from December if a effort to improve their abysmal performance. Now claiming a successful contact as message left on any phone in the contact household. This has unsurprisingly moved successful contacts up to over 90%. :banghead:

Isn't it an economic stimulus package by another name. Staff, facilities etc will be paid / rented / bought. So just another way of getting cash into the economy in the short term. Now of course it has redirected cash from other sectors of the economy in an unplanned and radical way. Fine if you been a badly covid affected business that can latch into Track & Trace - but not if you can't. One reason why for example Brewdog has offered its pubs - good PR but also a chance to get some of the oodles of covid cash sloshing around. Funny old world.

Thought you might have asked how Track and trace is going in France. As a local.
Why it makes no difference to me what is happening in France despite the fact we should be there now, I saw first hand last year how the french ignored the advice all through mid jan to the day of their lockdown.
I did here the government there is taking lots of flack over how slow they are getting the vaccinations going.

Yes true. Just thought you might tease him!! My observation is not a lot to choose between any of the European / Western countries. The virus is well established in the community. So track and trace will struggle to get back on top. Farmers should be most aware of this from animal diseases. Government is committed to track and trace and has to keep it jogging along - on basis that in a few months once vaccines get more rolled out and hopefully the epidemic comes back under control track and trace will work in identifying localised break outs. Time will tell.

In meantime it has worked as a bit of an early warning system nationally and locally.

My wife has done it for a few months now.She feels she has made a difference. She gets through about 50% of the time,25% dont answer, another 25% just slam the phone down. She has managed to summon an ambulance a few times,as the folk were in a very bad way.One guy she got back in hospital after been discharged when clearly should not have been. One or two heartbreaking stories as well. All in all,she thinks she has saved a few lives. But trying to get to doing vaccinations............thats another matter......

If it's an economic stimulus package it's mighty interesting one. Take money from millions of taxpayers and give it to a few millionaires. :scratchhead:

Not strictly true old fella, and is usually the case anyway. But by default it is an economic stimulus package as it was not there before March and it is now in direct response to the event. And it may (or may not) come to an end when the event draws to a close. How many successful millionaires have sucked on the teat of previous new government schemes.

Thanks for that reply. From someone at the coalface. And about what I had surmised would be the situation from a coal face worker and hearin a couple of interviews on Radio 4 news with staff doing same job. So overall worth it for what it is and what it achieves. But not the be all and end all. The vaccination had better work, hadn't it! Or we are all going to have to get used to a new way of living and surviving. Hey ho.

Why do you care ? It's a new year, take a chill pill and worry about things you can control

What a depressing post.
To be so blinkered that you can’t be interested in anything unless you can see, smell and touch it😕

...and. I might add, more than a little ironic, coming from the man who started the famous “most dangerous man in the world” thread😂

With those figures it will now go down as a 100% success rate. Surely they will stop p!ssing about with all this ridiculous red tape on who can vaccinate, when it comes to healthcare professionals.

Are you referring to the UK scheme or is there an equally inefficient French version?

There is a huge difference from being blinkered and not interested to being totally obsessed, brexit is done time to move on, trump is done time to move on, I've met a few people who just cant get over their wife/husband leaving it is them who wind up bitter and twisted, obsession can make you ill

This thread is neither about trump or Brexit?
Seems pretty current to me🤷‍♂️
How long are you allowed to be annoyed about your wife running off with another bloke? In your opinion ?
I agree about obsession. Far too many on this and other forums obsessed with money... IMO

It's just another dig at boris, Tories, brexit etc he is obsessed, while its certainly not world class just look at the words used, it's not criticism it's almost an obsessive hatred.
As for being left, my exwife still hates me after 20 years and I didnt leave her for anyone else, I can understand its painful being left but it was me doing the leaving so cant say whats reasonable for being annoyed but mine came with 500 quid and left with nearly 400,000, that is plainly unfair but it's the law so I sucked it up and moved on without letting it burn inside,
