There used to be a sanatorium near us for TB patients. Mum said they had a rota to decide who should walk into town to buy supplies from her shop. I never heard her mention a fear of contagion but I guess suitable care was taken with masks, etc, she just used to reminisce about them fondly. In 1939, they built a huge new san. on the site to deal with far more patients, but before it was quite finished, the advent of antibiotics and new treatments made it redundant almost overnight so it stood there in the trees unfinished and unused for 60 or 70 years. We used to creep about in there when we were kids but I believe the shell has now been turned into an old folks' home.i must be a bit mistaken… i never thought of TB being particularly infectious, person to person.
for instance, I didn’t think Doc Holiday left a trail of infected folk behind him?
plus, my former MIL had TB, and never spread it to any of her family
