Picking up a wee stick welder from Screwfix today. Been watching some YouTube videos. How hard can it be?!

Hopefully you bought the inverter welder - because if you bought one of the old 140 amp buzz boxes, you will be swearing a lot more than the bloody thing welds. Umm Stick, Umm Stick, Ballcocks, Umm Stick.....Ballcocks, Ballcocks, Ballcocks...

Edit: And get yourself an auto phase face shield, as you will inadvertently get arc-eye with the old type welder and the squint challenge solid state face shield glass..

Enjoy..

I agree that amount of pain involved in that would be off the scale and she is hardly ever going to be able to feed twins any sense again.

She would never feed twins again, even if she was to ever see a ram.
If I get a ewe like that (& we all do occasionally), I would give antibiotics, pain relief and fly cover before letting her run for a month or two. I would also mark her, as otherwise she would be difficult to pick out from the flock within a week or two.

I will contribute on behalf of the captain of this ship. He lost 40 containers which is bad enough but it is reported at least one of them had masks etc needed for medical PPE.

I remember when I was about 20, I used to despair of dad as he broke things all the time and carried on oblivious of squeaky bearings or fans not going round, Now I'm nearing 60, I find I am becoming exactly the same. I break something every day from being a bit slow, and if something falls to the ground, it tends to stay there as it is harder to bend down nowadays. :)

Happens all the time. The trouble is some of these containers will float just level with the surface and clouting one is not ideal for smaller craft.

Not disagreeing with you about the course of treatment, but I've never known a black udder ewe get maggots in her wound. Amazing how they heal. And presuming they get past the initial infection stage, it doesn't seem to trouble them much at all.
Had a ewe 1 year continue to rear 1 of her twins on the other side whilst it was hanging?
Had 2 this week?, first has "dropped out" and is healing without me even seeing and treating it (I know, bad shepherding), the 2nd I treated but she never recovered from the mastitis and is "awaiting collection".
