Have the pulsar xm30f, which is their entry level model, but it's still £1000.

You'll pick out sheep and deer at a fair distance but, but over say 400-500 meters it will become harder to tell which is which.

Its a good bit of kit though, obviously if you spend 4k you will get something better.

Hi hoff135,
I am looking at the Pulsar XQ30 Pro, a tad over 1k, I think it will do all what I need it for..

I have a Hikmicro Condor which has the LRF, really like it. Good picture quality, 500 yards to the tree on the left of the picture.

I have looked at several Condor's, all look cracking devices, which model do you have?

I am not going for the LRF on the monocular as its not needed, and they seem a little bulkier..

I have the Pulsar Accolades (Binos). I find them much easier to use than a monocular.

Not cheap!
How do you find your night vision when using the binos?
At night I look through the spotter and scope with my right eye which keeps my left adjusted to the darkness, otherwise I can’t see anything if using the spotter on my left and scope on the right. I generally have the brightness turned right down at night but still affects my night vision.

Hi Phil

TBH I use mine for deerstalking so much of its use is in the daytime, they are very effective for spotting deer that you could miss due to cover, so I don't really have that issue.

I use it after dark mainly for seeing what is about and where so I can plan my morning stalk.

Very useful tool.

Thermtec wild 650L from East Anglia Optics they range a fair bit depending on budget I used to have the 315 pro but the latest model is the wild and it’s fantastic 3 year warranty too!

I question the reliability of pulsars helion refocus motors, know of several going wrong with light/medium use so wouldn’t go near those and would deal with a shop so have a point of contact if any issues.

ATN are based in Hereford and their warranty/replacement is brilliant, but admittedly have needed it a couple of times on a nightsight.

Got a old ATN thermal spotter which is brilliant just clumsy but it’s prob 10 years old and now got a infaRay IL35 and it’s brilliant upto 500 meters nice, light and 18650 batteries so easy to change in field and it’s not knackered when the batteries fail or neeed to buy a new expensive bespoke battery pack.

Pulsar merger binos here. Had a few monoculars but would never go back to them. Binos are far more comfortable on the eye just more expensive. For some reason both your eyes don’t seem to go as dark as the one on a monocular. I walk a lot with mine so constantly scanning as I’m walking and have no problem seeing after using them or switching to the gun to shoot. Your eyes do obviously darken but it’s not a problem but everyone’s eyes are different. I wouldn’t say you hear of many people using binos and saying they are terrible I’d go back to a mono but you would hear of lots saying they wouldn’t have binos if they already have a mono… either will get the job done you just need to figure out budget and do you want the best from it in all weathers, how far you want to scan and to what level do you need to identify what you’re looking at.
